Hi Scott,
I hope you had a great weekend!
Warning, this post is about RNWK and WPNE....
Thanx for the excellent reply to my questions. Right now, I really want to understand this aspect of the internet, this whole video thing. I have to tell you that I woned RNWK about 5 months ago, but sold about 2 months ago when it dropped to around 120 range, only to see it rebound. I'm now beginning to think that this might be one of the "mistake" investing things that happens from time to time. Now I'm looking for a better entry price because I have changed my feelings regarding RNWK. I now think they are going to be a powerful company in the future with the potential which just now seems to be rising, through increased bandwidth.
Last week, I figured out how to get Realplayer to work through my company's firewalls (shhhh, don't tell anyone!!!). I then connected to on24.com, which I'm sure you are aware of. Specifically, I wanted to see how the video would work on a high bandwidth connection. It confirmed in my mind what I know will be the future for everyone. There, on my computer screen, I was viewing a high quality (current internet standards) video, of an on-demand subject. Right then, I knew...... what lies ahead.
At home, when I access the sight at 56K, I am able to see the same material, with the same high quality, but the slower connection causes the video to freeze while the buffer is replenished. Obviously, this is not as enoyable as a "non-freeze" video. There is also audio programming where, like a radio show, you can listen to various subjects, like IPO's or other subjects.
This is the future, but it is here now.
So how does this relate to White Pine? I think they are rising to the occaision. They see the future, and it is here now. Cu-SeeMe video is beoming quite good. High bandwidth and a couple of software improvements will make this software the future choice. We will all be using Explorer, Realplayer and Cu-SeeMe in the future. These are the standards being set.
A thought I had relative to the audio is for them to modify the software so that the person receiving is able to individually select the audio of who he/she wants to listen to, similar to the way video is selected. It seems that this should be achievable. Maybe a limit would have to be set to prevent a user from selecting more than 4 or 6 users.
Once this enhancement is made, it seems to me that the product would be much more marketable to a very wide audience.
So that's about all I have for now. Just wanted to dump some thoughts that I had.
