Karl, no offense, but I gave up on that article after seeing the second fopar:
"PHILADELPHIA -- One by one, microchip makers are crowning copper the new king of high-speed circuitry, while aluminum circuits slowly go the way of Betamax and Crystal Pepsi.
IBM Corp. announced two years ago that it was the first to use copper instead of aluminum to create the circuitry on silicon wafers. In September, IBM shipped its one-millionth copper chip.
More recently, Advanced Micro Devices Corp. (AMD) opened a $1.9-billion plant in Dresden, Germany, ready to crank out state-of-the-art, 1-gigahertz chips. Twice as fast as Intel Corp.'s Pentium III, the AMD Athlon processor's microscopic roadways are made of copper.
Twice as fast, give us a break.
The first one was making an analogy between Aluminum and Betamax. At least Al served long and well, vs. Betamax which hardly got out of the chute.
