The AD vs NDS discussions will begin to take on more than just a philosophical debate at this point. Now it comes down to actually "betting the network" on one or the other. In fact, I don't see NDS losing any ground in the foreseeable future.

The answers this "MSFT Guru" gives in this interview did NOTHING to convince me that he even believes AD can compete right now. In fact, he actually makes a few remarks which admit some flaws (or shortcomings?) in AD which they are still working on. Good for them -- nice to see they can actually take that step.

Check this statement "we hope that ultimately AD leads customers to Windows2000" -- and here I was thinking it was the other way around? Either way, that's their strategy in a nutshell -- drive customers to their products. It's THAT SIMPLE NOVELL!!!

His conclusion at the end is very very real -- "what they (customers) purchase are solutions and Directories alone are rarely a solution". He could not be more correct, Novell needs to build upon NDS and create solutions that companies will buy. I think Novell is moving in the right direction with their e-commerce plans, the IBM alliance and ICS.

As Scott has explained, Novell desperately needs to make developing for NDS as easy as creating webpages or something otherwise, they will lose the Directory War. This is has been proven by history -- people need to develop to make money, development drives the products. Products for the basis for Solutions that drive revenues.
