At 0255 GMT (9:55 p.m. EST Monday), shares of Taiwan's number two chipmaker had gained NT$0.50 to NT$111.50 on volume of 57.7 million shares. Investors are offloading stocks Tuesday following threats from mainland China to use force if Taiwan continues to put off negotiations aimed at reunification.
