SAN DIEGO, Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- docHarbor(SM), a leading document application service provider and a business unit of Anacomp(R), Inc. (Nasdaq: ANCO), today announced the opening of its state-of-the-art e-document center in the Dulles airport technology corridor in Northern Virginia.

The new center is dedicated to docHarbor's Internet Document Services(SM), a web-based storage and delivery service that stores clients' documents in a large electronic repository and delivers them reliably and securely to clients' personnel and customers through standard web browsers. The new e-document center will enable docHarbor to store virtually any volume of client documents and to provide concurrent online access to a very large number of users.
"We have been developing these operational capabilities for some time," said Ralph W. Koehrer, president and chief executive officer of Anacomp. "We are starting with a foundation that is built on more than 30 years' experience in document management. By providing web-based storage and delivery as an outsource service, we help our clients reduce operating costs, improve productivity, and enhance service to their customers."
The effectiveness of the docHarbor offering is enhanced by docHarbor's Work Smart(SM) process, a unique consultative approach for identifying and analyzing its clients' document-management and business-process requirements. A critical part of initial sales activities, the Work Smart process enables docHarbor to apply its web-based services optimally in order to fulfill customers' requirements more effectively. "The Work Smart process is the cornerstone of this business," added Koehrer. "It adds tremendous value to our customers and differentiates us from our competitors."
To address customers' requirements for the highest levels of security, docHarbor designed the new center to provide maximum protection against physical threats and unauthorized access. Additionally, communications between docHarbor's web servers and users on the Internet are protected by firewalls and encryption, and docHarbor's Internet Document Services provides authentication for each user and document before they enter the system. docHarbor works closely with each client to control access all the way down to individual document fields and uses third-party experts to audit security on an ongoing basis.
In addition to the Internet Document Services hosting site, the facility includes a state-of-the-art Executive Briefing Center and administrative offices. The new facility is mirrored by docHarbor's other e-document center in Dallas, Texas.
"The new e-document center is part of our continuing investment in our infrastructure," said Koehrer. "We currently have the capacity to host 5 billion customer documents and that number will quickly expand as we add new customers and aggressively grow this business. The new center builds on our experience and the technology we have in place, giving us the capability to provide the guaranteed application uptime, performance, and around-the-clock availability, security, and service that our customers expect."
