LeBoeuf of PPG elected to Praxair board

DANBURY, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 29, 1997--Raymond W. LeBoeuf, president, chief executive officer-elect and a member of the board of directors of PPG Industries, Inc., was elected to the board of directors of Praxair, Inc. (PX:NYSE) today. His term will expire in 1999. LeBoeuf, previously president and chief operating officer of PPG, was designated chief executive officer effective July 1, 1997 by the board of directors of PPG on April 17.

LeBoeuf, 50, held financial management posts with the Ford Motor Co. before joining PPG in 1980 as treasurer. He became controller in 1984; vice president, Purchasing in 1986; and vice president, Finance and chief financial officer in 1988. In 1994 he was named vice president, Coatings and Resins, and then became executive vice president. He was named president and chief operating officer in 1995.

LeBoeuf is a trustee of Robert Morris College and a director of Magee-Women's Hospital. He also serves on the boards of the Chemical Manufacturers Association and the Extra Mile Education Foundation.

A native of Chicago, LeBoeuf is a graduate of Northwestern University and earned a master's degree in business administration from the University of Illinois.
