Yes. Remember "Rashomon"? Certainly events occur, but we've no accurate record of them. Eyewitness accounts? Ho ho. Contemporary documents? Frequently biased. And so on and on. Everyone--from every era beginning with that of the event down to our present day--has his own axe to grind, his own interpretation to offer. I'm constantly astonished to discover how little time needs to pass before all hope of discovering what actually "happened" has vanished. Who erased the 18 minutes worth of tape? What took place at Nicole's house that night? We may make our guesses, and be fairly sure we're right, but we'll never really know. There is no "history"; only historicism. Janice
