StarBase Corp. Announces Integration with the Psylvestris Customer Care System; Complete Software Development Management in One System February 22, 2000 08:47 AM SANTA ANA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 22, 2000--StarBase Corp. SBAS , a leading provider of eBusiness digital asset management solutions, Tuesday announced an integration between Roundtable(TM), the leading Application Development Management Solution for development of Progress-based applications from StarBase, and Psylvestris(TM) the leading Customer Care System for Progress users from Walker Martyn, Ltd., United Kingdom.
The integration has been developed jointly by the two companies to benefit users of the Progress development environment by giving them the best overall management system available on the market today.
All aspects of an incident can now be handled with one fully integrated system. These include logging the original help desk call and converting it to a change request, estimating the coding effort needed from the change request, converting the change request to one or more tasks and scheduling resources to complete the task, checking out the relevant code for change and checking in the new code, online impact analysis of both programs and schema, deployment of the changed files and their schema, and updating the status of the change request as appropriate.
The integrated system also handles the notification of incident and status to the appropriate people, the product release mechanism for the altered software, updating the customer asset record including time spent on all parts of the process, charging for the work done, a comparison of estimated budget versus actual time spent, and invoicing to the appropriate customer or cost center.
"This interface is totally automatic and seamless. Just press a button in Psylvestris to send the code change task to Roundtable and Psylvestris automatically knows when the code change has been completed by developers," said Christopher Dodd, director of marketing for Walker Martyn. "This process helps solve problems more efficiently and gives the customer a comprehensive overview of the entire process. We are extremely pleased with the program."
"Roundtable's tight integration with Progress Software's technology gives developers the ability to take advantage of a robust application development management solution. It provides immediate and comprehensive insight into the myriad of modifications made during custom development," said Thomas Brattvet, vice president sales for StarBase. "Roundtable also automates the promotion of code and schema changes and deployment of systems and updates, thus reducing time, cost, errors and management of the development projects."
