Fujitsu Siemens Computers to Offer EMC CLARiiON Systems in Addition To Symmetrix Enterprise Storage

HOPKINTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 22, 2000--

EMC Extends Strategic Alliance to Include Leadership Midrange

Solutions

EMC Corporation, the world's leading provider of enterprise storage systems, software and services, today announced it has expanded its strategic alliance with Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Europe's leading IT company, to include a worldwide OEM agreement for EMC's family of CLARiiON storage systems.

Under the agreement, Fujitsu Siemens Computers will market and sell EMC's CLARiiON full fibre channel storage systems as the FibreCAT line of storage systems. The two companies entered an agreement in 1997 for Fujitsu Siemens to sell EMC's family of Symmetrix Enterprise Storage systems under the EMC brand name. Fujitsu Siemens Computers' customers can now scale from workgroup to workforce using EMC's world-class storage systems.

Dr. Helmut Beck, Executive Director, Line of Business Storage, at Fujitsu Siemens Computers, said, "Our new FibreCAT systems are ideally suited for integration into a heterogeneous server landscape. These CLARiiON-based systems, combined with EMC Symmetrix, offer our customers an unmatched range of capacity and functionality and enable them to protect and leverage all their information across the enterprise."

EMC CLARiiON systems offer fast, scalable and dependable storage solutions for applications in the distributed environments of large enterprises and for emerging companies with moderate but rapidly growing demands on the performance, availability and manageability of their storage infrastructure.

Frank Farese, EMC's Vice President of Global Alliances, said, "Fujitsu Siemens Computers and EMC have worked closely to provide customers in Europe and around the world with the industry's most comprehensive set of storage solutions. The combination of FibreCAT along with Symmetrix enables our joint customers to achieve unmatched levels of storage functionality, scalability, reliability and performance."
