Well either nobody wants to buy athlon and they are slashing prices.

Or maybe yields are too good and they have excess supply.

If you look at AMD's price cuts they eliminate the 550Mhz speed grade and 600 is now low end.

Just as Intel introduces more Cumines in the 500-600Mhz space.

PS as a far as a pissing contest. AMD has been carefull not to do so - they are moving up the speed scale - in the area where Intel can't ship.

Being more nimble and having 100% capacity running 0.18 micron sure has its advantages.
