Isolyser Reports First Profitable Year - Third Consecutive Profitable Quarter -

NORCROSS, Ga., Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Isolyser Company, Inc. (Nasdaq: OREX) today reported its third consecutive profitable quarter and the first profitable year in its history as a public company.

Fourth quarter 1999 net income was $770,000, or $0.02 per share basic and diluted, versus a net loss of $5.6 million, or $0.14 per share basic and diluted, in the prior years fourth quarter. Income from operations for 1999 was $1,653,000, compared with a loss from operations of $6.1 million in the year earlier quarter, a turnaround of $7.8 million.

Fourth quarter 1999 net revenue was $15 million compared with $31.4 million in the same quarter of the previous year. Excluding businesses disposed of prior to September 30, 1999, fourth quarter 1999 net revenue increased 12.1 percent from the year earlier period.

Fiscal year 1999 net income was $2.7 million, or $0.07 per share basic and diluted, versus a net loss of $18.2 million, or $0.46 per share basic and diluted, in the previous year.

Income from operations for 1999 was $5.2 million, compared with a loss from operations of $15.9 million in the prior year, a turnaround of $21.1 million.

Fiscal year 1999 net revenue was $99 million compared with $147.6 million in 1998. Excluding businesses disposed of in 1999, net revenue increased 13.3 percent from the previous year.
