Texas Instruments (NYSE:TXN - news) rose $8 to $142 after it unveiled two new chips
that will make Internet access faster and allow wireless phones to run for weeks without
recharging. The new digital-signal processors (DSPs) are about 10 times faster than the
company's current processors. The new DSPs will allow customers like Nokia (NYSE:NOK -
news) and Motorola (NYSE:MOT - news) to develop phones that can access video from
the Internet. Texas Instruments' second chip is designed to increase the battery life of
wireless devices.

The new chips should help the company further boost market share. Currently, it controls
about 48% of the DSP market and its chips run two-thirds of the world's cell phones.

Nokia was up $6.25 to $196.75. Motorola gained $4.25 to $149.19.
