*2) With Nokia, Ericcson, MOT all customers in the commercial infrastructure market and the growing need for cellular products, VARL is obviously trying to target a small % of the wireless handset market. Who is making all the handset VCOs now that VARL is competing w/ and won't it be hard for VARL to lock up contracts given their top capacity is @ 8-10 million units /year ???*

Huh? With a projected 600 million wireless Internet handsets by 2003, that area will be the single largest handset segment - not a "small %" area as you assume. As I have said umpteen times, VARL makes very high quality VCO's that are useful for this particular target market. The folks supplying the low end VCO's are currently either internal (within a company) or are the two Japanese firms often mentioned on this thread. The low end stuff is also low margin, hardly an area we want VARL selling into. As 3G moves nearer, VARL will start to get very large VCO orders due to their superior technology.

Just look at MOT . . . they used to make their own VCO's than cut that division out and sold it to its managers . . . all because VARL kept winning the high quality from MOT.
