Micrografx Announces Third Quarter Results

RICHARDSON, Texas, April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Micrografx(R) Inc. (Nasdaq:MGXI), a global leader in graphics software, today
reported financial results for the third quarter of its 1997 fiscal year.

Net income for the three months ended March 31, 1997 was $ 0.1 million, or $0.01 per share, on revenues of $17.1 million. This
compares to net income of $0.5 million, or $0.05 per share, on revenues of $18.4 million for the same period in 1996 as restated for the
April 1996 acquisition of Visual Software, Inc. For comparative purposes, revenue would have been $0.7 million higher using last year's
currency rates.

For the nine months ended March 31, 1997, Micrografx reported revenues of $49.8 million and a net loss of $2.3 million, or $0.22 per
share, (including a second quarter pre-tax restructuring charge of $2.0 million, or $0.13 per share). This compares to revenues of $56.2
million and net income of $2.1 million, or $0.21 per share, for the same period in 1996.

``We are comfortable with the progress we have achieved this quarter while restoring profitability,'' said Doug Richard, president and
CEO of Micrografx. ``We continue to reinvest in our enterprise sales and marketing efforts while maintaining a strong balance sheet.''

During the third quarter of 1997, Micrografx released Flow Charter(R) 7, Graphics Suite(TM) 2, Webtricity(TM) and Simply 3D(TM) 2
-- all for business users. The company also received favorable industry reviews and customer acceptance for the launch of American
Greetings CreataCard(R) Gold(TM), an upgrade of the company's popular CreataCard greeting card software.
