Trim-A-Lawn Corporation to Introduce Patented, Environmentally Friendly Drop-load Battery System for Its Lawn Trimmer/Mower
Annual Market of $25 Million Seen
UTICA, N.Y., Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Trim-A-Lawn Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: TLWN - news) announced today that it will introduce its drop-load battery system for use on its wheeled walk-behind trimmer/mower models in model year 2001. A patent has been issued to Trim-A-Lawn for the concept of its unique battery system, which permits virtually continuous operator use because of its quick-change battery pack (drop-load) feature. This enhancement is in addition to the principal consumer benefits of a cordless trimmer/mower, which are the reduced noise level and elimination of exhaust, in comparison to gas-powered models.

The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that 5 % of the smog in the U.S. is produced by lawn and garden equipment. Mr. Dallas W. Jones, President/CEO of Trim-A-Lawn, commented: ''Several states, including populous California and Florida, have issued mandates to reduce pollution and noise levels from the use of gardening equipment. These regulations will require use of the best available technology, which we expect to boost demand for our drop-load battery system, after its introduction.''

The lawn and garden industry has annual sales of about $30 billion, of which approximately $10 billion is in the outdoor power equipment category. Within this outdoor power equipment market, the walk-behind trimmer/mower is the fastest growing segment. By Trim-A-Lawn's estimates, annual unit sales of walk-behind trimmer/mowers were approximately 50,000 in 1996 and 275,000 in 1999, and are projected to rise to some 1,000,000 by 2004. Trim-A-Lawn President Dallas Jones added: ''It is advantageous, but no accident, that Trim-A-Lawn's walk-behind trimmer/mower is in the fastest growing category in its market, and we project that future demand for our patented, drop-load battery system product should exceed $25 million annually. We expect Trim-A-Lawn's sales of drop-load products to grow rapidly because of its exclusive, competitively superior features; its value pricing; and its growing regulatory -- mandated use. This product will be offered to Trim-A-Lawn's existing marketing channels of mass merchandisers (including Menards, TrueValue Hardware, Ace Hardware, Meijers, Wal-Mart and others) as well as outdoor power equipment dealers, foreign markets and customer direct.''

Trim-A-Lawn Corporation is an industry leader in walk-behind trimmers and accessories. Trim-A-Lawn is a publicly traded company located in Utica, New York, which manufactures successful and unique walk-behind trimmers.

This announcement contains forward-looking statements that involve risks and uncertainties that include, among others, Trim-A-Lawn's limited operating history, unpredictability of future revenues and events, potential fluctuations of quarterly operating results, seasonality, consumer trends, competition, management of potential growth, and risks of new business areas, national and international expansion, business combinations and strategic alliances.
