David - I have never met with so many conflicting signs in the (supposed) runup of a stock. This is either a disaster or a miracle in the making. On the one hand, you have Seybold making coy remarks ("Can't say anything, folks, they're still a takeover target but - teehee - they're clients so I can't say any more!") and Infowave co-sponsoring wireless conferences with the heaviest hitters in the world. You have a tremendous runup in a stock, then WHAM! the lid gets clamped on. You get rumors of Canaccord lifting its (always low) target to $56. You have IW moving their sales headquarters to Washington state, and rumors of hiring 200 salespeople. You have Schultz replacing Major at WK, and Infowave making happy noises.
OTOH - you get a big drop in share price, sudden (unexpected) change in course at WK, and all of a sudden, a lot of uncertainty.
FWIW, here's my take: I may end up with egg all over my face on this, so if I'm wrong, please, be gentle with me. Remember, I'll be a lot poorer!
I believe the news that's coming is huge. I believe it leaked a bit, and inspired the runup. I think that the selloff comes from people who don't know the story, and sold into the runup.
I know that MS has, for a long time, been doing research on voice-recognition, and I believe the Redmond move was to achieve software integration. I believe that IW will be part of it.
The alternative is to believe that IW has been out on the golf courses, fiddling while WK, and their future, burns. I don't believe that for a minute.
Hunker down folks...there's a blockbuster comin'. |
