I've read "The Difference Between...", and I didn't come away with as negative an impression as you apparently did. The sales mess was bad all right, but I think that it's possible to see it as terrible judgement and huge ego rather than his being "a crook". I know people that worked at Oracle through the late 80's, and most of them rather like LE. I know a woman who dated him, too, and she speaks well of him after the fact. He's not someone I'd want my daughter to marry, because I don't think that he's very well-adjusted (I would assume that most multi-billionaires aren't, since most well-adjusted people would stop driving themselves by the time they had their first billion). But I don't think that he's a bad person, just not good husband material.

Even Tom Siebel said nice things to me about LE the one time I talked to Tom for any length of time. I think that you have the wrong idea about LE, but my connection is all quite indirect, so I don't really know.
