Robin I almost signed up with Etrade Canada but found a message board at Stockhouse.ca that convinced me that I'd be jumping out of the frying pan into the fire. The board is t.v for Versus, the company who bought the rights to Etrade's name in Canada. I found many posts from very unhappy customers of their online brokerage service. I have moved my RSPs to Schwab Canada to try them out. From day one they have been responsive, professional and efficient. They setup my account in 3 business days including emailing me my passwords. I am now waiting for my current institution to move the money over. As I am with PH&N in Vancouver and they are super fast in executing any transaction even if it is a transfer out of their accounts, I will be trading this week. About 2 weeks after filling out the online forms and sending them to Toronto by overnight courier. They are more expensive than the other online services, but the software is great, the site fast and I think they are going to work out just fine.
