ADC Releases New Generation of BroadAccess Multiservice Access Platform
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 23, 2000--
Revolutionary architecture expands capabilities for delivery of
broadband and narrowband services in circuit-switched
and packet-based access networks
ADC (NASDAQ:ADCT; www.adc.com) today introduced the new generation of BroadAccess(TM), a unique multiservice access platform that enables service providers to deliver a robust mix of broadband and narrowband services to clusters of 60 to 2000 businesses, small office/home offices (SOHOs) and residential customers from a single platform. The new generation BroadAccess system will be displayed at the ADC booth at CeBIT 2000 (Hall 17, Stand No.C16/1) in Hannover, Germany, February 24 - March 1.
The new generation of BroadAccess expands and integrates more broadband and narrowband capabilities into the product. Now, within a single shelf architecture, BroadAccess supports advanced broadband services such as high-speed Internet access over ADSL, voice over DSL (VoDSL), video on demand (VOD) and Virtual Private Network (VPN) services, in addition to narrowband voice and data. With its integrated SDH fiber-based transmission and ATM Virtual Path ring capability, BroadAccess enables effective delivery of high-speed services to numerous sites over a unified fiber infrastructure.
"Flexibility and adaptability are what sets the BroadAccess platform apart," said Menashe Yosephi, associate vice president of product management, Teledata Division of ADC's Broadband Access and Transport Group. "BroadAccess' hybrid circuit/packet-based backplane enables service providers to easily adapt their network to the growing demand for high bit-rate services through the use of plug-in modules, which can provide numerous combinations of broadband and narrowband services."
BroadAccess' large installed base in more than 50 countries can be smoothly migrated to the new generation system. New and existing customers can enjoy the platform's strong backward capability and possibilities for using a variety of existing service and transport modules.
BroadAccess is an innovative multiservice access platform optimized for SDH/PDH fiber-based networks, delivering services from POTS to xDSL to clusters of 60 to 2,000 subscribers. The platform interfaces to virtually any type of local exchange through V5.2/V5.1 digital protocols or 2W connections, and connects to ATM backbones through E1s or STM-1 User Network Interfaces (UNIs).
