ADC Delivers New OMX Optical Distribution Frame
Hall 17, Stand No. C16/1
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 23, 2000--
OMX(TM) 600 Optical Distribution Frame Provides Advanced Cable
Management Features for Protecting, Managing and
Adding Value to High-Speed Networks
ADC (NASDAQ:ADCT; www.adc.com) today announced the availability of the OMX(TM) 600 optical distribution frame (ODF), a front-facing, high-density frame designed for protecting, managing and enhancing optical networks. The OMX 600 is capable of terminating and splicing up to 576 fibres in a 600mm x 300mm footprint. The OMX 600 will be on display at the CeBIT Trade Show and Conference, Hall 17, Stand No. C16/1, February 24-March 1, in Hannover, Germany.
The OMX 600 is a total front-access optical distribution frame that protects fibre cable and connectors through use of ADC's patented angled retainers and bend radius protecting design. Its modular solution provides flexible configurations for termination, splice and storage applications. Designed with total front access, the OMX 600 can be installed back-to-back or against a wall to save valuable office floor space.
"Today's unprecedented growth and widespread deployment of optical fibre has made cable management a critical element for building robust and reliable fibre networks," said Troy Veitenheimer, international product manager for ADC's Fibre Optic Division. "To meet the needs of our customers, ADC has designed the high density OMX 600, incorporating sound cable management practices with modularity and flexibility required by networks both today and in the future."
The OMX 600 joins ADC's Next Generation Frame product family and the FL2000 family of panel products to round out ADC's 600mm product offering. The NGF frame is one of the highest density frames available today, terminating up to 1,152 fibres in a 600mm x 600mm footprint, and is ideal for applications in which maximum density is required. The FL2000 panel family includes a wide variety of termination, splice and storage modules giving the network manager flexibility in configuring solutions for specific applications. The panels are easily mounted in cabinets and provide the same critical cable management features common to ADC's entire product portfolio.
All ADC fibre management products are engineered to provide low life cycle costs by easily adapting to network expansion and system upgrades. Installation is easy which helps avoid excessive labor costs. Centralizing fibre equipment terminations also saves time when monitoring, managing or repairing the network. With a centralized frame, network performance can be monitored from one location without adding staff or staffing remote locations.
