<<Do you consider LPWR and ARCC fiber plays?>>

It is not my intention to set myself up as the arbiter for inclusion/exclusion of companies. I see that some of the companies in the Optics Portfolio have fiberoptics as only a part of their business (e.g. OSIS) yet they are being considered fiberoptic plays. My intention was to include anything that was discussed here, though that could get unmanageable. I will add these two at the end of the day.

LPWR-Laser Power
LPWR designs, manufactures and markets high
performance lasers & laser optics for industrial,
medical and military applications. For the FY ended
9/30/99, total revenues rose 13% to $34M. Net
income from continuing operations totalled $1.6M vs.
a loss of $3.9M. Revenues benefitted from increased
shipments of infrared optics on long-term production
contracts. Earnings reflect the absence of $3.8M in
merger and integration costs.

ARCC
Allied Riser Communications is a facilities based provider
of broadband data, video and voice communications
services, delivered over fiber optic networks designed,
constructed and owned by the Company in large- and
medium-sized office buildings. For the nine months ended
9/30/99, revenue totalled $989K, up from $104K. Net
loss totalled applic. to Common totalled $41.5M, up from
$8.9M. Results reflect new customers, offset by greater
personnel.
