Since part of the point of this is to get IHVs and others to avoid customizing system DLLs and find another way to get whatever function they need (such as maybe read the manual and find the appropriate API), your assumption is correct.

There are utilities to identify the aliased DLLs. There is probably a way to have the app stop using the aliased DLL and go for the "real" one but I have not explored that...
