Chevron Selects billserv.com to Provide Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment Services
With More Than 6.9 Million Customer Accounts, Chevron Becomes billserv.com's Largest Oil and Gas Customer
SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 23, 2000-- billserv.com Inc. (OTCBB:BLLS - news), an electronic bill presentment and payment (EBPP) service bureau, today announced it has signed a two-year exclusive agreement with Chevron (NYSE:CHV - news) to develop an EBPP system enabling Chevron customers to receive and pay their gasoline bills online.
San Francisco-based Chevron, one of the world's largest integrated petroleum companies, has more than 6.9 million retail customer accounts, making Chevron the largest oil and gas customer that billserv.com has signed to date.
For Chevron, billserv.com will implement an aggregator billing model, enabling Chevron customers to pay their monthly gasoline bill at virtually any Internet billing Web site. billserv.com's end-to-end EBPP solution will include processing Chevron customer billing data, delivering it to billing consolidators, and then processing customer payments back to Chevron. billserv.com currently has agreements with every major billing consolidator including CheckFree/TransPoint, Bank of America, NetDelivery and CyberCash. Chevron customers also will be able to pay their bills at www.bills.com, billserv.com's own consumer bill payment portal.
``We see this agreement as an indicator that major corporations are now putting EBPP on the 'front burner,' having long recognized the competitive and cost advantages of EBPP,' said Michael Long, CEO and chairman of billserv.com. ``We're very pleased to be working with Chevron on this very important initiative.'
``Customers are looking for convenience, and Chevron's service oriented strategy involves delivering customers their statement at the Internet Web site of their choosing,' said Mike Colvin, EBPP project manager at Chevron. ``We see this relationship with billserv.com as an integral component of our strategy.'
