It's simply just proper documentation. For whatever reason, M$ hasn't been able to properly document their APIs. Publishing the source code will help others help M$ in that regard. Sun continues to be successful in excluding Windows from the high-end space. As well, Sun has been successful in excluding Hasbro. How do you think Sun's possible anti-trust exposure should affect Sun's strategy? See, this is the difference between Bill Gates (dropout) and Scott McNealy (graduate). Scotty did his Masters thesis on anti-trust law. Scott has said in the past that he looks forward to the day Sun is a monopoly like M$; that ultimately, it's a CEOs job to get there for the shareholders.
