TEMPE, Ariz. -- In the fast-growing arena of programmable digital signal processors, Texas Instruments Inc. and Analog Devices Inc. slightly increased their market shares in 1999 while Lucent Technologies Inc. and Motorola Inc. slipped, according to a new DSP ranking released today by Forward Concept here.
TI easily repeated as the world's largest supplier of programmable DSPs with 48.0% of the $4.39 billion market last year, compared to 47.2% of $3.5 billion in sales during 1998, said the research firm. The market share of fourth-ranked Analog Devices grew to 10.3% from 9.1% in 1998.
Lucent again was in second place, but its DSP market share slipped to 25.1% in 1999 from 28.1% in 1998, said Forward Concepts. Motorola repeated as third in DSP sales, but its market share was at 11.4% in 1999 vs. 12.0% in 1998.
