Hello TNH,

Re: I'm trying to put together a 600MHz Athlon system
and I have question about the type of memory to use.

I've heard of some builders apparently getting by with cheap genric SDRAM but I would never recommend it. It seems like problems just waiting to happen later on. If you want to build a FAST and SMOOTH Athlon system, don't skimp buying substandard parts.

Buy a quality motherboard, a quality powersupply, and quality SDRAM. 128 MB of CAS2 PC100 SDRAM can be bought for about $108 from Micron, it works great and you'll be satisfied with its dependability and performance for years.

I am extremely pleased and amazed by the three Athlon 700 MHz systems I've built so far. I'll be ordering componets for about 15 more Athlon systems shortly. And no, I'm not a dealer, and no, I don't resell them. I just build them for people I know. I seem to have a whole lot of people around me that want Athlon systems.

Kindest regards,
CrazyMan
