1. The bigot comment was not directed specifically at u, I apologize if it looked that way.

2. Your calling to save me is not belittling, though your attempt to do so despite my views is very belittling. You say you were lifted up, that implies that us "heathens" are below, less enlightened, blind, as you say. I find that offensive because in truth I feel that way about those faith. The fact that a person can believe in something for any other reason than a logical one (and no, I don't find the prospect of an omnipotent being as it defined by organized religion, logical, as it flies in the face of everything we experience in the realities of our lives) to me is absurd. I think that the true believers are masters of denial and self-delusion and that they are truly the blind because they choose to believe in something that makes them feel better, because they can't imagine believing in themselves, because they don't trust themselves to do what's right and need someone to tell them, because they are not free. HOWEVER, even though I think all these things, I will never go out of my way to try to convince you that your faith is misplaced, my thoughts are only my opinions, and I could be wrong (don't you ever consider that possibility), and you can believe what you want, and I would certainly never want anyone to legislate away your right to believe. I chose to believe in myself because it is the only thing that I (or anyone, for that matter) can ever really know. I afford everyone else the same luxury, and I hope that they would do the same for me, but alas, they do not.

It is for this reason that I am repulsed by the involvement of the religious right in the Republican party
