1ST WELL STAKED USING 3-D TECHNOLOGY IN WILLISTON BASIN

VANCOUVER - April 29, 1997 - Golden Arch Resources Ltd. has staked it's first well in the Williston Basin, based on the interpretation of it's 3-D seismic shoot. The location is 27-25 N. 56 E. in Richland County, Montana. The objective target is the Red River Zone at a depth of 12,000 feet. This well is expected to be spudded in mid May, 1997.

Recent industry activity in the 3-D exploration play has resulted in several 300 plus barrels oil per day discoveries within a few miles of this location.

With the utilization of 3-D seismic technology, the success rate dramatically increases the successful wells from the Red River formation.

Golden Arch Resources Ltd. has a 25% working interest in 40,000 gross acres to date, and plans to drill 6 wells in this area in 1997, and the ongoing acquisition of additional leaseholds.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of Golden Arch Resources Ltd.
