Short questions:

1. Why do some brokers have a list of stocks that can be shorted? This must imply stocks NOT on the list can't be shorted. Why not?
2. If you get short-squeezed how much time do you have to give the stock back you borrowed? I.E., if you are a day-trader could you get an e-mail or a phone call saying you had to give back the stock immediately?
