Epson just announced new printers at PMA (Photo Marketing Show) in Las Vegas the firstweek of February. They are the 870 and 1270 series.

Being in the professional color output industry, I can say that the output from these printers is phenomenal! Virtually indistinguishable from a photograph. It rivals the very best I can provide from a printer costing many thousands of dollars. They are supposed to be shipping soon and I think they are priced at $299 and $499. One great thing is that once printed, the output is non water soluble, the inks won't run like much of the other inkjet output does. They use the new 6 color inks and 1440 dpi, so the blends are great and no dots to see. I was told that full color coverage costs about $1.25 for ink and paper.

I will most likely trade up my HP1000 for one of these soon. I think that once you see the output, you won't look at anything else.

Good Luck
Dan
