America remains great, but is in decline. That's obvious in numerous objective ways: the American public fails to see any benefit in voting; our literacy rate is down; our neighborhoods are being built with walls and security check points; our divorce rate is over 50%; many children are born out of wedlock, etc, etc, etc.

Americans don't view themselves as a unified people. We are a country of hyphenations.

If you travel around the world, you'll discover that people of other nations have more confidence in America and its systems than we do. We take everything for granted.

America needs to unite. Needs to ensure that we remain the political, economic and moral leaders during the 21st Century that we were for 40 years after WWII. Americans represent strength. Americans represent innovation. Americans represent growth and prosperity. Americans represent possibilities. Americans represent rights and freedoms that few enjoy in this world.

But, if we continue to take these things for granted. Fail to see them as America's strengths. Lessen our focus on excellence. Fail to ensure that all Americans participate in the Dream. We will lose it.

America needs leadership. America needs a leader who has lived a life of the non-privileged. America needs a leader who can pull "Americans" together. America needs McCain.
