Jesse, unless you hold shares in your own name, splits and such are handled invisibly by brokers, transfer agents, mutual fund and others ... all acting in concert. Splits are distributed according to holders of record as of a specified date, and distributed as of a later date .. regardless of whether your broker advises you or not. And the markets don't wait for anything.

When you woke up this morning, did you check SNDK's quoted price first or check your share count? Did you really think that you could buy SNDK shares for $75 this morning and get twice as many shares as of the day's close?

In the rare case when a stock doubles on the day of its split,(yes, it HAS happended) everyone can get VERY confused. On such days, it is best to sit the day out because even your broker won't have a clue as to what costs what, when.
