Alfredo, Thanks for the firsthand impression and research into this co. I am with you, this could be a winner. I just read yesterday that their biopsy equipment has been given a space (no pun here) in the NASA hall of fame, something about the equipment being the result of space research. Also, the NASA statement (from January?) said the equipment reduces the exposure to dangerous x-rays that exist in previous equipment. You would know more about this; please let me know if this is big news to your radiologist friends. To find the NASA bulletin, go into alta vista search engine and type in trex-medical to search newsgroups messages. Also, before getting too excited about Trex, the co. appears to have filed to sell more shares, at least according to a filing with the S.E.C. Additional shares could be bad news in the short term. With the stock down as it is, it would make no sense to sell new shares now; it would of course make sense if there was good news on the horizon, perhaps FDA approval of the digital equipment. Expect dilution if the the stock makes a jump. I gues we'll have to keep our fingers crossed in the short term. If you're interested in other Thermo spinoffs, there is a mutual fund that trades on the AMex symbol TMF, that holds the subsidiary cos. in the portfolio. Since you're a Buffet fan, and the spinoffs have gotten killed, you might be interested in this fund. |
