Eric, I think many people are analyzing Cree in a much too narrow focus. LED's is an application for SiC. It is the cash market that is driving the company now. However, whether or not Cree can ever become a Gorilla in the lED market is of not really important. This market segment is just one of a growing number of applications of SiC. Gorilla or King in the LED market? It really won't matter.

IMO, Cree is across the chasm and in the bowling alley knocking down pins and LED's are just one of them (admittedly their are a host of applications that can be addressed with LED's. And I think this is what is behind the attempt to so narrowly define Cree). The power switching, RF amplifiers and a whole host of applications that can take aadvantage of the material properties of SiC are the other pins that will soon fall. Then you are going to see a REAL GORILLA.
