Thank you for your questions. I think that they are fair questions and I am more than happy to give you my side of the story:
Why did I begin promoting ADVR? Well, I was a good friend of a well known stock promoter, by the name of John Holmes. He published two very popular newsletters, in Charlotte, NC: "The Profit Strategy Newsletter" and "Best Bet" newsletter. He fought hard, through his readers and supporters, to get Reticulose approved by the FDA, until his untimely death, at age 62, around 1991. He had them writing their congressman, etc., to try to obtain support for Reticulose's approval.
Advanced Viral Research Corporation had an IND, from the FDA, at that time. It has since expired. John, went to his grave believing that Reticulose could save millions of lives, in the world, if they could get it approved for human consumption. Almost all of his followers still believe so, too! I am a firm believer, my wife is not!
It would have taken a dozen ordinary people to fill the late John Holmes' shoes. I have always believed that Reticulose works on a number of viruses and could save millions of lives. So I attempted to fill in where John had left off, as best as I could.
I initially had a small newsletter: "OLD JAKE'S JOURNAL", which I mailed out free to whomever wanted it. I, also, hand delivered it to people's newspaper boxes, stores, health salons, etc. I did it as a public service and as a hobby. It turned out to be a very expensive hobby. I enjoyed doing it very much and felt pride in doing it!
Eventually, it got into the hands of important people in New York City. Someone faxed a copy of one of those little newsletters to people all across the country. Eventually, several business people approached me about putting it out "Big Time". I told them I wanted no money or any type of gratutity for promoting the stock. I was furnished some postage stamps and around five thousand names and addresses of folks around the world who might be interested in subscribing to my services. I repaid the man who gave me the postage stamps. I really wanted to see this drug on the world's markets in order to cure and save the lives of "millions" of folk who needed it!
Money, I didn't really care about, but one must eat, so I started charging a small fee, obtaining licenses, etc. This was 1993-94.
Things were going well and I had a good following until.........:
By November 1994, I had "OLD JAKE'S JOURNAL" and "JAKES FAX ALERTS" and a "HOT-Line", which I updated several times a day, going strong and things seemed well........until: In November 1994, I broke the story about Dr. H and Mount Siani Hospital about to start testing Reticulose. I was stupid and thought that I lived in the United States of America, and if I found a scoop I could report it. I still believe that I can, but it has not yet been tested in court. It won't be tested in any court by me, but it could be by someone else. Anyway that turned out to be "insider information" and I was yelled at along with other people. I was threatened by an attorney in NYC, affiliated with Advanced Viral, to be "shut down". He said that he would get a "Cease and Decease" court order from a District Court in NYC. My councellor in NY advised me that it would be easy to do and I should only report public information, from now on. I agreed, but I truthfully thought that the information that I had reported, as a rumor, was public information. I still feel that way. The good folk in Florida have a terrible dread, and perhaps, rightly so, about the SEC and them taking action against them, again. They were afraid that I would bring "Big Brother" down on them! I think that they may have been right! I admit to being stubborn, a litle crazy, and stupid!
In January 1996, I broke the news of the date and time that the TV Program 48-Hours, with a segement on Reticulose, would air the show. ADVR did not know the exact time. Other affiliates thought that it would be the following week, from the actual week that it was.
I reported the "news" as I found it out, but I never reported any of it as the truth. I reported it as rumor, gossip, street talk, etc. Never did I report any thing as being any more than my personal opinion. That is the truth. I actually did not know the truth! I was stupid and had no business being in that kind of business. This is hindsight and we all know that hindsight is always 20/20!
Stock Brokers and others, begin to pass out my "Hot Line" number to their clients. People began to call my "Hot-Line" and eventually the stock went from about 10 cents to $1.90 over a period of time. I was told, by reliable sources, that I was accountable for 40 to 50% of that rise! I really don't know if that is correct, but I kinda agree!
I, unbeknown to me, had thousands of people calling my "Hot-Line" and buying ADVR and other stocks just, from listening. I had ladies calling me saying that they had fallen in love with my voice and they just had to meet me! My wife wondered what I was doing! Nothing!
I had "Older Folk" saying to me that they owned thousands and thousands of shares of ADVR that they had held since 1986-87. Thinking they were worthless, they packed the shares away in a trunk. When they received copies of my letters and found out that ADVR had a cash value they were elated. I was happy for them! This made it all worthwhile! In my days I have helped many people and will continue to.
One elderly couple wrote me a letter stating that they owned 100,000 shares of ADVR. Thinking the stock to be worthless they had discarded the stock certificate. When they found out, from me, that ADVR, had a NAV of around 10 cents at that time...they were sick because they had discarded their certificate. No sweat, I informed them of how to get a new certificate through the transfer agent----and they did. The couple eventually sold their 100,000 shares for over $1.00 per share! WOW! How "GOOD" this made me feel! Those folks think I am a "SAVIOR", in a sense. How proud they have made me feel.
I have faith in GOD---period! I doubt if the company could have survived much longer, if Dr. H had not gotten involved. I trufully believe that "the good doctor" does not give a hell or a damn about the price of the stock right now. I believe that he is building the company from the ground up and slowing building the company's reputation, in the scientific world, to where it should be. I have many, many letters from doctors around the country who used Reticulose on their patients, who had various viruses, and they all claimed remarkable results. A Colonel in he USAF conducted a study on Reticulose at the USAF School of Avation Medicine, at Randolph AFB, TX. He found it worked on radiation posioning. He studied it further and found it worked on other viruses. He held a symposiun in Florida, around 1960, with maybe 17 doctors attesting to the vality of the drug Reticulose in treating patients with various drugs. Colonel Thompson was a dedicated man and a highly respected physician! God Bless him!
Prior to 1962, when our congress hurriedly passed another law to protect its citizens from themselves, Reticulose could be used in the USA! Whether intentional or not, they took another freedom away from its people. Before, that time any drug could be sold on the shelves or by prescription and after six months if no one had suffered any ill effects from it, then it was automatically approved for use. That was the process and a good one, in my opinion! There was never a reported side effect, that I am aware of, from the use of Reticulose from the 1940's to about 1962, when it was legal to use it in the United States of America, "The land of the Free and the Home of the Brave". In my opinion, it will be approved for use, again. I pray that it will!
It is common knowledge that my wife and I own 1 Unit of Commonwealth Pharmaceutical Company, a Grand Cayman Islands corporation. This consists of 30,000 unregistered options that are exerciseable at $0.25 per share and 1% of any distributions that Commonwealth many make. To date, Comonwealth has made no distributions. Commonwealth is a private company.
I, also manage a private portfolio of stocks, "Jakes's Sibling Fund", a private entity, not open to, or intended for the general public's use. We have several stocks in this portfolio. My wife has a small account with several stocks and ditto for me. Two of my sons are "heavy investors". We all like to gamble and take "wild" chances.
You wanted to know if I can recoup my loses. Well, if you are referring to our business losses--the answer is no. If you are referring to our stock transactions. We are fortunate that we have managed to make small capital gains yearly. I bought ADVR when is was 3 cents a unit, in 1986. One unit consisted of 1 common, and 3 warrants-----"A" warrants were exercieable at 3 cents "B" were exerciseable at 5 cents and "C" warants were exerciseable at 7 cents. I exercised the "A" and the "B" warrants, but, the "C" warrants expired before I exercised them. I thought that they had been extended, but they had not. I have bought, from time to time, the common stock of ADVR, at anywhere from 10 cents to sixty-four cents per share of common stock. We did alright, though we never got rich.
The death threats were reported. Most of the calls were made from office buildings, in big cities, and could have been made from one of many people. No charges were ever filed, as we really had no case against anyone. When the authorities were notified I anounced on my "HOT-LINE" that I had notified the proper authorities. The calls stopped immediately. I think it was just disillusioned shareholders, not any of my great and wonderful subscribers!
Again, my faith is in GOD! I truly believe that Reticulose will be proven to be a "miracle" or "wonder" drug and that many lives will be saved when, and if, it is allowed to be used again. I trust that it will eventually be allowed to be used by the poor souls of this world!
Throught my newsletter, etc I have meet many fine people. You know some of them through this thread! I have many Doctors, Lawyers, Bankers, Priests, etc. as subscribers to my services.
I recently had to discontinue our business. I did this for purely economical reasons. On-the-other-hand, I don't think Dr H perfers to have anyone promoting the company. I am almost 99 & 44/100% sure that this is correct. I feel that he does not want too much publicity. I have reasons to say this and I believe it will be for the betterment of all shareholders in the long run. I support Dr H 100%!
I think that the jury is still out on ADVR and its sole drug Reticulose. We may know something soon, or it could be awhile!
