I believe a popular science project is to spear a potato with two strips of unlike metal, then use the thin stream of electrochemical current to run a quartz movement. The eponymous Potato Clock. In a celebration of the recursive, one such could be used to referee the baking of foil-wrapped Russets. If a movement other than quartz were used ... you would have a whole 'nother kind of clock.
