...you short the SPX or SPY?

I switched to futures trading -- the E-mini contract for the SPX is ES00H. Futures trading yields lower commissions, faster execution, smaller spreads, and nearly 24-hour trading.

I don't currently have a position, but last night I had a sell signal on the DJIA, and buy signals for the SPX, NDX, S&P 400 and Russell 2000.

I have been studying a mechanical buy/sell program for the indices that yields ~25%/year average for the SPX since 1928. The last three years the average has increased to about 50%/year.

All I need to do now is find a good mechanical intraday sell-stop algorithm to get me out of dangerous situations, like today for instance.

I'm not sure where support is for the DJIA, I have been more preoccupied with momentum. I think intraday support levels are a good way to set protective sell stops, but I need to do further work on this.

Are you trading the DJIA or SPX?
