Dan, I'm about to install the CAT 5 with the contractor.

I was wondering if you could clear up the difference between "solid" CAT 5 cabling and the more pliable stuff in the CAT 5 patch cables.

Unfortunately, I recalled your advice about how generally you like to modify patch cables rather than make them, but not the advice on how you'd use solid bulk cable for permanent installs. Now I've got several good 50 and 25' patch cables that I was planning to have installed in the new walls...I'm wondering if there's a reason I ought to avoid that and get "solid" cable cut to fit instead.
