10 Gateways are in Commercial Service covering 21 countries, according to today's conference call. The 7February earnings release said "now providing billable service in 18 countries through 10 operating Gateways"

Globalstar Northern Europe has a list of 18 countries where

"Globalstar service is now available:"

Austria
Belgium
Brazil
Canada
China
France
Germany
Greece
Italy
Liechtenstein
Monaco
Portugal
San Marino
Slovakia
Spain
Switzerland
United States
Vatikan(sic) City

But Elsacom site implies all of its "Region 1" is in service, which includes eight countries not on the above list: Albania, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Macedonia, Slovenia and Yugoslavia (in addition to Austria, Germany, Italy, Slovakia, Switzerland and VCity)

Other countries not on the GNE list include Romania (said in
a 11/99 e-mail from Elsacom to be in service) the UK (said by TESAM to be in service) and South Korea, said in the January G* prospectus to be in service.

All those added to the GNE list gives 29 countries.

Notably absent from all lists is Argentina and neighboring countries which were said back in December to be ready to start service in mid January. And tariff information is available (on the web anyway) only for Brazil, US, Canada, Italy and Austria.

I'm as curious as anyone as to how many minutes of use and handsets are sold (or given away) but it would be nice to start with consistent information on how many countries are really offering the service.
