Mark:

Thanks for the explanation of the intelligence built into the Com21 modem. It enlightens the reader to how "golden" the Com21 modem really is going forward as the Com21 modem is designed to interface with intelligent signaling system built into the present PSTN network. IMHO, this is no small feat.

Curious. Is a NT DMS 100 switch a Class 5 switch, or is it a different animal?

Also, how does the SS7, or competing platforms, play a role in the ability of the Com21 modem to interface with the signaling systems now deployed over the PSTN? My understanding is that SS7 technology enables the PSTN to migrate toward an IP-like standard using seried-circuits instead of packets to introduce intelligence into the circuit-switched network.

Any insights you have on this front would be greatly appreciated. I am curious how adaptable the Com21 modem is as the PSTN becomes more intelligent moves toward an IP-like platform, merging voice & data into a single network.

TIA, Mark.
