A proprietary open architecture called Lon Works

this is the part where I have not had any luck finding definitive info. The product is called LonWorks, the
"architecture/protocol/whatever" is ANSI standard
(submitted by ELON).

my question is : how much proprietary control does ELON have, now that its ANSI standard ?
