New residential construction in this country is less than a million a year, and has been for years! Divvy that up among 4, or 5, or 8 vendors, and none of them has anything near what we're looking for. Even in one of them got it all, it would still be small change.
why do you count only new home construction?
someone else mentioned the need to replace wiring in existing structures, i didn't get that either.
i don't think that is the case at all. wiring seldom if ever goes bad. the controls are installed at the ends of the wires.
i believe we will simply replace our existing light switches and receptacles to get elon's controls. most of us probably have leviton electric junction boxes, light switches and receptacles in our homes now. since leviton makes the lonworks stuff and csco raved about using off the shelf parts, i am convinced the new controllable devices using the neuron chip will simply fit right in our existing electric junction boxes. ever notice how much extra room you have in those boxes behind your light switch? surely it is sufficient for a little chip and controller. i doubt that it is as big as a leviton electric dimmer switch.
i always like to do a little field work. i like to see stuff up close and personal whenever possible..that is why i suggested yesterday that a trip to home depot to see what leviton makes might be in order to fully understand this. anyone who has ever replaced a light switch should understand how easy this conversion might be.
this means that every existing home and building in the world as well as new construction is a potential customer for elon. in fact every lamp, tv, clock, appliance, hvac system, electric fence control, alarm system, anything electric is a potential elon customer.
the beauty of all of this is after one switches to smart house controls...a light switch and electric receptacle will still look and function the same for the consumer. but it will need elon's proprietery neuron chip inside and elon's server for full-function internet controllability.
