There are several factors at work here that are not discussed in the analysts report. First, as you know, ISLD's revenues are growing explosively (400+ percent y/y last quarter). They will have little trouble reaching $60-80 MM in revenues for FY2000. Getting from there to $300M + by FY2002 doesn't seem unreasonable unless the overall market for this service has been grossly misunderstood. I think the $300 MM estimate is quite conservative.

The truly killer application for these so-called "private" networks is security. By enhancing network efficiency they not only offer an essential speed advantage over the public internet, they permit relatively painless (from a routing penalty standpoint) overlay of security software. IMO it is likely that ebusiness will "stampede" to these private network services as security issues continue to remain in the forefront.
