RE: QCOM, SEBL & ORCL
Wow! WSJ FUD - imagine that? It appears that Qualcomm is now in the plus category. UF, I hope you don't mind if I post that little tidbit over at the Fool?
For those, especially Mike and UF, interested in a fun read concerning Siebel, hop over to this link:
biz.yahoo.com
Here's a little preview for those with no time to surf:
Salesforce.com is trying to take business away from Siebel Systems (SEBL), and it's specifically targeting Siebel's online service, Sales.com. Siebel's founder, Tom Siebel, is a former Oracle (ORCL) executive whose feuding with Ellison is well on its way to becoming a Silicon Valley legend.
Sounds like a typical business rivalry huh? Not quite. Benioff was an early investor in Siebel's company.
So, now that he's a direct competitor has Benioff sold all the stock he owns in Siebel Systems? Well, he said, he's sold some. After all, he had a business to fund. But he's still in Siebel, yes. "It's hard," Benioff said.
Why? Well, Siebel Systems has been doing phenomenally well -- splitting three times since it went public in mid-1996 -- and gaining $7 a share in one recent day of trading last week. "It's hard to sell when it's going up," Benioff noted.
HA!
Big (whatever big means) procurement announcement from the big three auto makers in about an hour. I assume somebody from Oracle, Commmerce One, Ariba and i2 will be 'rewarded'.
