EP, re:naked puts, I use edreyfus.com & they require $20K equity in an account before they will consider naked puts or calls, and that equity has to be in stock or cash, not options. It took a week to get approval. They do require 50% equity in the naked position, which is double the minimum requirement and you can't enter non-covered orders online, which basically means the minimum commission jumps from $15 to $25.

EDIT: one other thing, one broker a talked to said you needed $20K equity remaining AFTER the requirements of the short option position you are opening are taken out.
