you can't short it while it falls. need an uptick to go short. does it make sense to short Dell? based on it's deteriorating fundamentals, yes. however, Dell is infamous for manipulating it's own stock at critical junctures by selling put options en masse. so that limits the downside as long as tech stocks in general stay strong. in a meltdown though, Dell should be a great short, as it's one of the weakest big cap tech stocks over the past year. always short relative weakness if you must short something.
