Wayne: It seems like an orderly liquidation is in progress. First pick the "old-economy-smoke-stack" stocks and shoot them. People using the old-economy stocks as margin for the high teh ones will liquidate some high tech. But the Nasdaq will be dealt with later. IMHO this could be a combined effort by the Fed and the Wall street brokerages so as to not panic the public. But I have been rarely right about this market. Simba
