I don't think they could have impaneled another jury and tried another case this fast. It could well be a decision on Mitsubishi's motions, however, including attorney fees. The decision should not move the stock up, but could well move it down if the judge should, for example, reduce the amount of the award or, even worse, grant a new trial.

If Ampex gets by the motions, there should be a settlement. To file an appeal, Mitsubishi would have to post a bond for an amount in excess of the judgment (I'm not sure how much) and would be liable for more attorney fees. It's unlikely that they will want to throw good money after bad. It's pretty tough to win an appeal, especially, as in this case, where punitive damages are not awarded.
