uw, following up on our conversation over at the G&K thread: Message 12770140 Following a presentation Tuesday, I and a GEC fund manager asked the CEO of Emcore about the brightness issue. Emcore qualifies substrates from a number of vendors, including CREE, and they are "vender neutral". He confirmed what I stated before, SiC biggest advantage is form factor and not brightness. The GEC manager must have heard the same assertion from CREE that they have closed the brightness gap. We wonder if there are some qualifications, such as "laboratory conditions", missing.
