I guess I probably didn't explain myself too well... Sorry.

What I meant to say is that there is a growing middle and upper class in China. Many of those people are members of the communist party who have used their priviledged positions to obtain control of profitable industries.

These parties have an interest in not taking physical action against Taiwan because of the money that is at stake in their fledging economic modernization and attempt to crawl out of recession.

When foolish governments cause people to lose money, it is very hard to get them to support some foolish nationalistic fantasy like conquering Taiwan.

At their heart, the Chinese are business oriented. They won't do what is inherently bad for business. (knock on wood).
